South Huron Hospital Association Reaching Out
to Our Community
South Huron, March 1, 2013: Staff of the South Huron Hospital Association and the Grand Bend Area Community Health Centre wants to let everyone know how they are working together, and with other health care providers, to improve the health of our population through outreach, education and collaboration.
Representatives from the Speaker’s Bureau are available to come to your Community Organization, School, Church or Club to inform your members that our hospital is about more than taking care of sick people inside of its four walls. It’s also about Promoting Health and Preventing Disease through education and Allied Health Services so that our community members won’t need to use illness services.
Some available topics are: Social Issues (parenting, stressors, anxiety & depression, bullying), Health Promotion, Hospital Services, Infection Prevention & Control, Aging at Home, Smoking Cessation, Diabetes/Weight Management, a Physician’s Perspective, or other current health related topics that you may suggest.
There is no charge for this service. Advance notice is appreciated to ensure your request can be met.

On January 8, 2013, the CBC forwarded a communication to 620 Canadian hospital leaders, including South Huron Hospital Association (SHHA), requesting their voluntary participation in a multifaceted project called “Vital Signs”. This project focuses on hospital performance and seeks to bring Canadians a consumer-oriented database of facts and figures about Canadian hospitals.
After careful consideration, SHHA has declined to participate in this project as we feel that the outcome of our participating will not directly affect our strategic and patient outcomes. SHHA will continue remain transparent meeting our legal requirements for reporting first and foremost. We encourage you to browse through our hospital website, as well as visit other public reporting websites, were the information about Ontario hospitals of interest to the public is already widely available.
