Common Board of Directors

The Huron Health System consists of the Alexandra Marine & General Hospital and the South Huron Hospital. Services delivered by the Huron Health System include: 24/7 Emergency Services, Mental Health, Surgical Services, Diagnostic Imaging, Laboratory Services, Intensive Care Unit, Acute Care, Obstetrics, Rehabilitation, Complex Continuing Care and various outpatient services. 

 

Our voluntary Common Board of Directors is comprised of dedicated volunteers from the community and consists of 15 elected members and six ex-officio members.


The HHS Common Board of Directors is responsible for the overall governance of the affairs of the hospitals. Each director is expected to act honestly, in good faith, and in the best interests of the hospitals and in so doing, to support the hospital in fulfilling its mission and discharging its accountabilities. 

 

If a member of the public wishes to participate in the open session of an HHS Board Meeting, please contact alana.ross@amgh.ca 48hrs prior to the meeting.

The HHS Common Board of Directors meet regularly throughout the year. All meetings begin at 4:00 p.m. unless otherwise specified, and are open to the public for observation. Can I attend the Open Sessions of the HHS Board of Director's Meetings?

Yes, you can!

 

Prior to attending, please review the Board Affairs Meeting of the Common Board Policy.

 

Please note, if you would like to address the HHS Common Board of Directors, please submit your questions or comments, in writing, 48 hours in advance of the meeting, to alana.ross@amgh.ca.

 

If you are attending via MS Teams, it is expected that you will turn on your camera and introduce yourself. All public participants and guests will be exited from the meetings prior to moving into in-camera sessions.

Board Committees aid the HHS Common Board of Directors in its governance role. These committees assist with the work of the Board and provide direction to hospital leadership. Board Committees meet on a regular basis.

Board Recruitment

Healthcare touches everyone in our community. If you’re looking for a place to volunteer your skills and have a wide community impact, HHS is interested in you. 

 

Our HHS Common Board is focused on governance, so you won’t be asked to raise funds. Our committees can be a bit more hands-on in their tasks but ultimately, they all make recommendations to the HHS Common Board.
