Speech Language Pathology

small talk logoCommunications skills are vital to our fundamental development and the function of our everyday lives, yet millions of Canadians and their families live with the challenges of speech, language, and hearing disorders. Speech Language Pathologists (SLPs), audiologists, and supportive personnel such as communication disorders assistants, are trained professionals who work with people of all ages dealing with issues related to speech, language, hearing, swallowing, and other related disorders. Each clinician's goal is to help clients achieve an enhanced quality of life.

The Speech and Language team at the South Huron Hospital (SHH) consists of a Speech Language Pathologist (M.A., SLP (C) Reg. CASLPO) and a Communications Disorders Assistant who work together to deliver a variety of services.

smallTALK

SHH is proud to be part of smallTALK, the Preschool Speech Language Program serving families in Huron and Perth counties.

smallTALK was created to ensure that all children (from birth to the beginning of Junior Kindergarten) living in Huron and Perth counties are given the best chance of reaching their full speech, language and communication potential. smallTALK is part of a province wide, government initiative designed to bring together new and existing resources to ensure the delivery of a comprehensive preschool speech and language program. smallTALK focuses on prevention, early identification of problems and broadening the methods of treatment provided by Speech Language Pathologists.

smallTALK utilizes an open referral system. Referrals can be made by yourself, or your child’s doctor by calling 519-272-8216 or 1-866-333-7716 and asking for smallTALK.
