Healthcare touches everyone in our community. If you’re looking for a place to volunteer your skills and have a wide community impact, SHH is interested in you. We have openings on our Board of Directors, but if you’re looking to get your feet wet and perhaps move up to the Board later, our board committees are also welcoming members of the community.
Our Board is focused on governance, so you won’t be asked to raise funds. Our committees can be a bit more hands-on in their tasks but ultimately, they all make recommendations to the Board.
If you are interested in becoming a Board Member, or joining a Board-related Committee, please email:

The South Huron Hospital (SHH) is committed to placing patients and their families first and our goal is to view the healthcare experience through their eyes. Representing the voice of SHH's patients, caregivers and families, our Patient Experience Panel (PEP) partners work with staff and physicians to provide direct input into policies, programs and practices which effect the patient experience.
If you are interested in joining our Patient Experience Panel, please contact patientrelations@shha.on.ca or call Heather Klopp, Patient Relations Coordinator at 519-235-2700 ext. 5110.

Why choose a career in rural nursing/medicine? Our employees say:
“Working in a rural setting provides great experience to those that enter it. A smaller center enables you to:
- Practice your skill set and use knowledge gained from your education.
- Provides a home town feeling that you typically may not get in a bigger center.
- Our team works closely together and forms long lasting friendships.
- Our team also gives support to each other, whether it be education, advice or being an ear.
- Being from this community, patients are very grateful to see a familiar face in their trying times.
I have been a nurse here for 32 years now and cannot believe how fast my time has gone. I have formed great relationships, and it has been a very rewarding career to have the privilege of living in this community, being close to work, and doing something I love.”
- B., Registered Nurse
We know that partnering with members of our community is fundamental to our success at SHH. If you are interested in a placement with us, please speak to your school Guidance Counsellor or Placement Coordinator immediately.
