SHH Launches Holiday Food & Gift Collection Challenge

December 15, 2024

In a heartwarming initiative, the dedicated staff at South Huron Hospital (SHH) have come together this holiday season to spearhead the Holiday Food & Gift Collection Challenge, aimed at supporting Noah’s Ark in Exeter. This initiative not only exemplifies their commitment to community care but also highlights the spirit of giving that flourishes during this festive season.

The challenge, which encourages staff to donate essential items, has been met with enthusiasm and a shared sense of purpose. "Supporting local causes during the holiday season is not just about giving back, it's about coming together as a community to make a meaningful impact," said Jimmy Trieu, President & CEO at Huron Health System. “By caring for our community and inspiring others to do the same, we not only uplift those around us but also enhance the strength and unity of our entire community."

Throughout the campaign, collection boxes have been filled with non-perishable food items, toys, and gift cards, all aimed at supporting Noah’s Ark's invaluable projects. Among these are "Adopt a Friend," which ensures companionship for the homeless during the holidays, "Kids Shopping Day," where children can shop and wrap gifts for their caregivers, and the "Angel Project Day," which anticipates assisting over 250 families with full holiday hampers, toys, and gift cards.

"Noah’s Ark has been a beacon of hope for over 35 years, embracing countless families with open arms," said Martina Eineke, a dedicated volunteer. "The joy of giving far outweighs receiving, and we are immensely thankful for the incredible volunteers who keep our essential programs running, as well as the generous community members who support these efforts by donating vital items."

This initiative not only serves those in need but also inspires a ripple effect of generosity and kindness throughout the community. By participating, each member of the staff becomes a beacon of hope, encouraging others to join in and spread the joy of giving.
